mile me deaf played a great show at the Sub in Graz yesterday. there were 2 other bands as well, the painted beehive and the decibelles from lyon. both played great shows, the decibelles had a cute french accent, but i didnt shoot any photos because of.. well, lets just blame some foreigners. yes, its becaus of them, they stole my motivation, my camera, my ability to focus properly and what not. so please enjoy those blurry, noisy, out of focus shots of that great show.

having a knee problem sucks. having a knee problem when the first warm and sunny days of spring are coming up pretty much compares to being kidnapped and forced to sleep with your mom while your dad is watching. think about that for a while, then go on reading this blog update.
done? done thinking about your mom? okay.
talking about your mom, here is herwig. herwig is old and grumpy, but beautiful on the inside (see, like mommy.) here he is sliding a 100km/h bs lipslide. yes!

skateboarding is the weirdest thing. people build skateparks for a lot of money in hopes of keeping us there and out of the public, and what do we do? we skate umbrella-stands. for hours.
exhibit a: the perfect spot. ( for viennese skateboarders: insert “oh look how many spots graz has” jokes here.) Continue reading “kaiser.”
shortly after the first spot, it started to rain. so we went and got some wonderful Estrella and wandered the streets of Badalona, looking for spots. and food. we did find spots, but goddamn it, spanish people dont like to work on rainy days. after what felt like walking all the way to great britain on foot, we decided to just buy noodles at a supermarket and cook them at the hostel.
where we decided to order pizza.
have you tried ordering pizza without speaking Catalan? its fun. you yell some english words at your phone, some old guy yells something in catalan, and after 30 minutes of wondering if our order actually came through the pizza arrived. yay.

after a lazy sunday, theres nothing better to start off the week than being tired because you went to a concert. luckily, this time it was only 2 bands and 45 minutes delay, so yeah, theres that. first off were “A Frame of a Life” with an acoustic set. didnt get to catch a picture, sorry you two. they used a guitar as a drum sometimes, which for me is the equivalent of people dancing to Helene Fischer: its highly confusing. but the show was nice, good voices, maybe a little too slow for me but hey, i am not exactly a music critic anyway.
next up were some guys that i have hoped to see live for some time now: Arliss Nancy! all those fancy beards, tattoos and beanies gave me high expectations, looking good is crucial for sounding good. i think. the show was great, they smoked cigarettes, drank beer, i shot some photos, they suck, (i mean i suck, these guys rule). if you get the chance, go see them live and buy some of their stuff.
thanks to everyone organizing this, it was a great evening. now enough with the mindless rambling, photo-time.

every now and then it happens that incredibly good bands get sucked into the hole known as “Music-House Graz“. and when that happens, its best to show up there.
the latest victims were the superheroes of The Fleshtones (they have their own wikipedia entry, by the way.)
if you knew them before, you knew what was coming up. if you didnt, you fell in love with them. this is how rocknroll stars should grow old – with power, passion and sheer neverending love for music.
the supporting band, Lory Lee and the Flashback Boys, were amazing as well, but i failed to take pictures. yep, i am that good.
anyway, no more boring words, heres the pictures. the show was incredible, if you have the chance to see them, SEE THEM.

here´s a sequence, for a change. i fucked up 2 tries (he didnt land, luckily) because i was busy switching between shooting this sequence and another trick, where i used flashes. that also explains the amazingly creative angle.
so, i have been playing around with exposure stuff lately. and to do that, i called a few companies and begged them “please, send me someone that can skate, i am sick of all those shop-sponsored kiddies. i need thrasher covers.”
and my tears and cries of despair worked. Philipp Josephu showed up!
but first, heres some kid that tries grabbing a board and ollieing and stuff. some call it creative, i call it “nyjah would have done it down a 20 stair.”.

Triest, Molo Audace.
Basically my first long exposure ever. Back in the day. I am quite experienced now, i shot like 4 more, which means i have mastered this technique, of course.
